De Novo Transcriptome Analysis in Three Different Life-Cycle Stages of Tropical Freshwater Cladocerans Moina micrura

Moina micrura is one of the potential model species for ecological and ecotoxicological studies in tropical freshwater ecosystems. Similar with other Cladocerans, M. micrura utilizes a special reproductive strategy known as parthenogenesis, in which parthenogenesis (asexual reproduction) and sexual reproduction can be switched when the environmental characteristics change. However, the genomic information in different life stages of M. micrura are still scarce in the public databases which has resulted in a lack of molecular markers, limiting development and utilization in the ecotoxicological fields. In this study, Illumina NovaSeq 6000 sequencing was employed to analyse of Moina micrura in three different developmental stages (juvenile, adult and male). This assembly will be valuable for researchers seeking to determine M. micrura sequences for future investigation of gene expression and comparative reproductive genome analysis within the Moina genus.
