资源简介:
This series comprises records of the Building Committee of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) (VA 1048). Records in this series including meeting minutes, agendas and reports created for and by the Building Committee. The role of the Building Committee was to provide advice on the development of hospital resources. This included the allocation of funds for, and development of a capital works program to meet long and short-term needs for the hospital and its various departments and services. The Committee was also involved in deliberations concerning the planning, cost estimates, construction, improvements to, and maintenance of physical facilities and capital works to buildings and amenities. Also included in this series are minutes of a joint RMH and University of Melbourne (VA 1045) committee to deal with the initial planning and construction of the Clinical Sciences Block, which opened on 8 April 1965. This was a joint project to house the University Departments of Medicine, Surgery and Psychiatry and several hospital investigative and scientific departments. Additionally, this series contains records of the RMH Private Hospital Project Control Group. This Group was responsible for investigating the appointment of consultants, approval of plans, specifications, overall site management, budget, timing, and quality of the building of the Melbourne Private Hospital. The Melbourne Private Hospital is a 120-bed facility situated on the top four floors of the Private Medical Centre, which began admitting patients on 29 May 1995 and was officially opened on 13 June 1995. While RMH and the Melbourne Private Hospital operate independently, they are linked through common specialist medical staff and shared support services, such as radiology and pathology. The building also houses on-site private consulting rooms for members of the RMH medical staff. Also included in this series are minutes and reports of the master planning function associated with the management of new, relocated, upgraded and redeveloped buildings and facilities for the RMH site. Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Archives.
