We designed eight customized media to target the enrichment of 11 outstanding plastic degraders. The inoculum was transferred to a 250-mL flask containing 0.1 g of pre-cleaned PLA, PET, PS and PE particles and 100 mL of MSM-based customized liquid medium. After 45 days, the mixed bacterial solution containing the plastic-degrading strains was collected for DNA extraction and full-length 16S rRNA sequencing.
