资源简介:
This dataset provides detailed bibliographic metadata records for scholarly publications related to 'Core Competencies' (also Core Competence), as retrieved from Crossref.org. This metadata corpus facilitates in-depth exploration of the academic discourse surrounding this strategic concept. Contextual Overview of Core Competencies: 1. Definition and Context: Core Competencies represent a harmonized combination of multiple resources and skills that distinguish a firm in the marketplace and provide the foundation for its competitive advantage and growth. Popularized by Prahalad and Hamel in the early 1990s, the concept emphasizes internal capabilities rather than external market positioning as the primary source of sustainable advantage. It is applied across industries by firms seeking to identify, cultivate, and leverage their unique strengths. 2. Strengths and Weaknesses: Identifying and nurturing core competencies can lead to superior value creation, market differentiation, and strategic resilience. It encourages a long-term perspective on capability development. However, challenges include accurately identifying true core competencies versus mere strengths, the risk of core rigidities if competencies become outdated, and the difficulty in building new competencies. Over-reliance on existing competencies can also stifle innovation and responsiveness to market shifts. 3. Relevance and Research Potential: The concept of Core Competencies remains highly relevant for strategic management, particularly in understanding how firms build and sustain competitive advantage in dynamic environments. It is a central tenet of the Resource-Based View (RBV) of the firm. Research opportunities include the interplay between core competencies and dynamic capabilities, their role in digital transformation and ecosystem strategies, how they are developed and transferred in M&As, and their measurement and impact on firm performance across diverse contexts. Dataset Structure and Content: The dataset consists of one or more archives. Each archive contains a series of approximately 850 monthly folders (e.g., spanning from January 1950 to January 2025), reflecting a granular month-by-month process of metadata retrieval and curation for Core Competencies. Within each monthly folder, users will find several JSON files documenting the search and filtering process for that specific month: term_results/: A subfolder containing JSON files for results of initial broad keyword searches related to Core Competencies. merged_results.json: Aggregated results from these individual term searches before advanced filtering. filtered_results.json: Results after applying a more specific, complex Boolean query (e.g., ("core competencies" OR "core competence") AND ("strategy" OR ...)) and exact phrase matching to refine relevance. The exact query used is detailed within this file. final_results.json: This is the primary file of interest for most users. It contains the curated, deduplicated (by DOI) list of unique publication metadata records deemed most relevant to 'Core Competencies' for that specific month. Includes fields like Title, Authors, DOI, Publication Date, Source Title, Abstract (if available from Crossref). statistics_results.json: Summary statistics of the search and filtering process for the month. This granular monthly structure allows researchers to trace the evolution of academic discourse on Core Competencies and identify relevant publications with high temporal precision.
