The genus Streptomyces is the major source of industrially important enzymes, antibiotic production and used in degradation of lignin. Understanding the molecular aspects of natural product biosynthesis has been of central importance. Following the polyphasic strategy to identify the novelty of an antibiotic producing cultured actinomycete ICN441, its genome was sequenced using illumina sequencing technology. A total of 4014.89 Mb sequence data was obtained from the sequencer with the GC content of 70.87. De novo assembly was performed and 6,568 genes were predicted.
