VPRS 19229 Secretary's / Manager's Memo Books and Diaries

This series comprises memo books and diaries of the Secretary/Manager of the Royal Melbourne Hospital (VA 1048). The chief administrative officer of the Royal Melbourne Hospital was initially known as the Secretary. The office was honorary until 1867. The title changed to Manager in 1934, then Executive Director in 1976, General Manager in 1996, and Chief Operating Officer in 2017. Topics mentioned in the records include but are not limited to: salaries, staffing issues, conditions, donations, supplies, insurance, Christmas Cards, and appointments to the Committee of Management (See VPRS 19095 for Committee of Management minutes and VPRS 19224 for the register of Committee of Management members). This series contains all extant memo books and diaries of the Secretary/Manager of the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Melbourne Hospital Archives.
