To preserve biological diversity in Central America by improving stewardship of the region's protected areas and by expanding them to include unprotected wildlands and by restoring degraded areas that link the fragmented wildlands and isthmus. the data was gathered in a larger context to demonstrate the relationship of the Region and adjacent regions, to facilitatethe identification of potential biological connections between the protected areas of the Maya Forest and those in adjacent regions, and to focus on ecological boundaries (not political boundaries).
