资源简介:
Well over 200 defined HADR events have occurred in Nigeria since the mid-1980s. A large proportion of these events are transport accidents, pointing to Nigerian roads’ overall state of disrepair and lack of traffic controls. The state also suffers extensively from flooding and flash flooding. HADR events tend to occur more frequently in the southern half of the state than the northern half; however, this could at least partially be an artifact of both higher population density and better local government reporting in the southern half of the state. In 2012, widespread flooding occurred in 30 of Nigeria’s 36 states. While no official estimates exist, various independent authorities suggest that anywhere between 400,000 and 1.4 million Nigerians were displaced by the flooding, with over 100,000 hectares and USD 30 million of agricultural production destroyed. While the central government maintains a National Disaster Response Plan, the state’s response to humanitarian disasters over the past decade have been heavily criticized by international aid and disaster response groups for a lack of effective reporting, coordination, and effort to assist marginalized groups. ISO3 - International Organization for Standardization 3-digit country code LOCATION - Location of HADR event START_DT - Start date of HADR event END_DT - End date of HADR event NAME - Name of HADR event TYPE - Type of HADR event SUBTYPE - Sub-type of HADR event DEAD - Number of dead due to HADR event AFFECT - Number affected by HADR event VALUE - Value (USD) of damage due to HADR event SOURCE_DT - Source creation date SOURCE - Primary source Collection This HGIS was generated from data collected from the International Disaster Database. The International Disaster Database provides attribute data on the occurrence and effects of over 18,000 mass disasters in the world from 1900 to present. The database is compiled from various sources, including UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, insurance companies, research institutes, and press agencies. Due to the difficulty of on-the-ground reporting in the Nigeria, this shapefile likely does not represent the full extent, impact, and/or occurrence of HADR events within the state’s territorial boundaries. The data included herein have not been derived from a registered survey and should be considered approximate unless otherwise defined. While rigorous steps have been taken to ensure the quality of each dataset, DigitalGlobe Analytics is not responsible for the accuracy and completeness of data compiled from outside sources.
