Historical presence records of the northern pika (Ochotona hyperborea) in Hokkaido.

This dataset contains 362 historical presence records of the northern pika (Ochotona hyperborea) in Hokkaido compiled from previous studies and reports. Records were selected based on the following criteria: (1) historical surveys were conducted before 2010, (2) site locations were identifiable from maps and/or detailed descriptions (e.g., a “1,738 m point on the Mt. Tomuraushi trail”), and (3) survey methods were clearly described. The dataset was used to examine long-term changes in elevational distribution and occupancy through resurveys. To reduce disclosure of sensitive habitat locations, coordinates were randomized within a 200 m buffer around the original survey locations.
