To evaluate the causal as well as the inherent therapeutic character of the surgery-altered gut microbiome in improved energy and metabolic control in diet-induced obesity, an antibiotic cocktail was used to eliminate gut microbiota in diet-induced obese rats after gastric bypass surgery; and gastric bypass-shaped gut microbiota was transplanted into obese littermates. 16S rRNA gene profiling was done on nine treatment groups including the controls.1) Diet induced obesity2) Diet induced obesity antibiotic treatment3) Roux-Y-Gastric Bypass (RYGB)4) RYGB antibiotics treatment5) Lean model6) Lean model with antibiotics treatment7) Diet induced obesity model with fecal transplant from RYGB model8) Diet induced obesity model with fecal transplant from lean model9) Diet induced obesity model with fecal transplant from RYGB model but paired-fed to the same intake as the diet induced obesity model with fecal transplant from lean model
