The individuals were recruited from South Wales, Herefordshire and Edinburgh between 1974 and 1980. Faecal samples were freeze-dried directly after collection and stored at ambient temperature. Representative samples from the collection (12/7079) were selected for metagenome analysis via shotgun metagenomic sequencing with a particular focus on antibiotic resistance genes.
