S5 - EPA Surface Measurements
The Southern Oxidants Study (SOS) conducted a major field research
campaign in Nashville/Middle Tennessee area in June and July 1994 and
1995. The goal of this study was to improve scientific understanding
of the processes that control the production and distribution of ozone
in the troposphere.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its contractors
(ManTech, Inc. and Biospherics Research Corporation) collected air
samples and performed in-situ measurements at five Nashville area
locations, including rooftops on the Polk (SOS_S2) and War Memorial
Buildings in downtown Nashville, the New hendersonville (SOS_S3) and
Youth Incorporated (SOS_S4) research stations, and the Murfreesboro
Road (Highway 41) underpass near the Nasville airport.
The study was conducted from June 17, 1995 through June 29, 1995.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) was the coordinator for the 1995
Southern Oxidants Study Nashville/Middle Tennessee Ozone Study. See:
