资源简介:
Elodea is an invasive aquatic plant that was first discovered in Alaska in 2010 with subsequent discoveries across Alaska urban areas. In the winter of 2013/2014 the plant was found in Daniels and Beck lakes near Nikiski, Alaska, and herbicides were used to eradicate the plant from these lakes starting in May 2014 with a final treatment in 2016. The Kenai Peninsula Cooperative Weed Management Area developed an integrated pest management plan and held a series of public meetings before herbicide treatments were approved by the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation in the spring of 2014. This dataset contains the responses from two household surveys conducted with lake residents and land owners at the beginning and end of herbicide treatments. The objective of the surveys was to document public awareness, concerns, and behavior change associated with herbicide treatments of waterbodies used by residents. Additionally, the survey aimed at quantifying the ecosystem service impacts related to perceived risk associated with the use of herbicides aimed at restoring aquatic ecosystems of the Subarctic.
