WalkingMaps Points of Interest (POI) Dataset with Descriptions, Images

This dataset was constructed for research on multimodal text generation of Points of Interest (POIs) in leisure walking contexts.<br>Data collected from the <i>WalkingMaps</i> platform (https://walkingmaps.com.au) <br>Each POI entry includes:<b>Title</b> and <b>user-generated description</b><b>Geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude)</b><b>Associated images</b> contributed by walkersThe dataset was compiled and curated as part of a Master’s thesis at the University of Melbourne (2025).Potential uses include multimodal learning, geospatial text analysis, and natural language generation for location-based applications.
