This repository archives data taken aboard the ACES-II-Low sounding rocket as it was launched into an Auroral Arc on November 20th 2022. This is the underlying data for a manuscript published in Geophysical Research Letters entitled "In-Situ Evidence of Ionospheric Feedback Instability Adjacent to a Quiescent Auroral Arc" The data archived in this repository is formatted as a .csv file. Each row is a measurement which is made 128 times a second at evenly spaced intervals. Each of the 16 columns are measured or calculated quantities. The following is a description of the quantity in each column: Column 1: Time since 17:00:00 Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) on Nov 22nd, 2022 in units of seconds Column 2: The altitude of the measurement in units of meters Column 3: The latitude of the measurement in degrees Column 4: The longitude of the measurement in degrees Column 5: The geomagnetic altitude of the measurement units of earth radii Column 6: The geomagnetic latitude of the measurement in degrees Column 7: The geomagnetic longitude of the measurement in degrees Column 8: The deviation of the DC electric field from the average measured field in the Eastward (Zonal) direction in units of Volts per meter. Measurement is made by the double probe EFI Column 9: The deviation of the DC electric field from the average measured field in the Northward (Meridional) direction in units of Volts per meter. Measurement is made by the double probe EFI Column 10: The DC plasma density in units of cm^-3 measured by the Langmuir probe. Data has been lowpass filtered at 0.3 Hz to remove spin and highlight large scale structure Column 11: The DC Field aligned current in the upward direction in units of mircoAmps per meters squared. This is estimated by taking the spatial derivative of the cross-track magnetic field (B East) over the along-track velocity of the payload and implementing Amperes law (assuming the payload is travelling northward into an infinite East-West current sheet) Column 12: The AC magnetic field measured in the Eastward (Zonal) direction in units of nT. This measurement is made by the fluxgate magnetometer and has been digitally highpass filtered at 1 Hz Column 13: The AC magnetic field measured in the Northward (Meridional) direction in units of nT. This measurement is made by the fluxgate magnetometer and has been digitally highpass filtered at 1 Hz Column 14: The AC electric field measured in the Eastward (Zonal) direction in units of Volts per meter. This measurement is made by double probe EFI and has been digitally highpass filtered at 1 Hz Column 15: The AC electric field measured in the Northward (Meridional) direction in units of Volts per meter. . This measurement is made by double probe EFI and has been digitally highpass filtered at 1 Hz Column 16: AC Poynting Flux in the upward direction in units of Watts per meters squared. This quantity is calculated from columns 12 – 15
