This is the dataset used to empirically examine the proposed dual-motive framework of budgetary decisionmaking, where governments navigate a trade-off between strategic objectives that serve public needs and corrupt incentives that facilitate the diversion of public funds. This dataset involves an unbalnaced panel of 120 countries for period, 1972 to 2022.
