Urban tree root fungi metabarcoding ITS2 (Amsterdam)

The goal of the study was to investigate the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF; Glomeromycotina) communities in the roots of urban trees across an urbanization gradient. AMF are understudied in urban environments, even though a large proportion city trees live in symbiosis with AMF, and their response to urbanization needs further investigation. To do so, AMF communities from three urbanization classes (urban forest, urban park and street) were compared in terms of composition, turn-over, (phylogenetic) diversity, indicator taxa, spatial aggregation and interaction network topology.
