A Multilevel Concurrent Mixed-Methods Investigation into SMEs Preferences and Challenges in Smart Open Innovation Adoption

This research centers on Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) operating within Singapore's manufacturing industry. It utilizes a structured framework to evaluate the performance of SMEs engaged in the production of technology-based products. The study aims to explore how factors such as digital transformation readiness, sustainability orientation, supply chain collaboration, workforce skill enhancement, and adaptability to regulatory changes impact the adoption of smart open innovation (SOI) among these firms. Employing a mixed-methods design, the study combines quantitative and qualitative approaches to deliver a thorough analysis. A positivist paradigm underpins the research, using statistical methods to examine the relationships among the variables, with survey data collected directly from SMEs as the primary source.
