The purpose of this project was to determine the identity and track the bacterial communities from two newly drilled natural gas wells, with emphasis on temporal and spatial changes. We used 454 pyrosequencing of PCR products from DNA extracted from the production water from 2 well components (gas-water separator and water storage tank) from the 2 well sites. We sampled these components over time for the temporal comparisons, and compared the tank communities to the separator communities for the spatial comparisons.
