The painting "Mater Dolorosa" by Reni (Dolci?), [s.d.]

Photograph of the painting "Mater Dolorosa" by Reni (Dolci?), [s.d.]. A woman's partially cowled face is pictured in black and white looking upwards. Much of the woman's shoulders blend into the shadows of the background. A shaft of light illuminates the center of her face. There is some confusion as to whether or not this is "Weeping Magdalene" by Carlo Dolci as described on the back of the photoprint. However, a comparison of the two painters' use of light and shadow as well as their depictions of women's faces points more closely towards Reni, listed on the picture file card.
