The water depth and temperature data were collected as part of Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere (TOGA) project from ship MV SHEARWATER between July 2, 1987 and August 10, 1989. The originator's bathythermograph (XBT) data were submitted on a tape by Helen Phillips of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), Australia. The data have been converted and are now available on line in C125 Bathythermograph-XBT-Selected Depths file format of NODC.
