Genome sequence of a Chihuahua from Thailand

The large phenotypic variability caused by dog breeding is a useful resource for understanding human genetics. While there is already a dog reference genome, there is still a lack of resources covering the whole genome sequence of many dog breeds. We present a draft genome from a Chihuahua born and raised in Thailand. In addition to the genome and a comparison to the current reference genome, we also show that the Thai version of this breed has regions of potentially relevant genetic difference from the American Chihuahua breed.
