Soil type and associated microbiomes influences chitin’s growth-promotion effect in lettuce

This study aimed to characterize bacterial and fungal communities in the rhizosphere of lettuce grown in peat soil or in mineral soil with and without chitin amendment. Communities associated with the plant roots were examined over an 8-week period, using either 16S rRNA gene or ITS1 amplicon sequencing for bacteria and fungi, respectively.
