资源简介:
This series contains material relating to the New Prisons Project, which was an initiative of the Kennett Government and involved the setting up of privately run prisons in Victoria. The three new prison facilities (Port Phillip, Fulham and the women's prison at Deer Park) were established after the closure of Pentridge, Sale and Fairlea prisons. The women's prison at Deer Park subsequently reverted to State Government control in December 2000.The New Prisons Project was responsible for strategically managing the contracting out of the three new private prisons including project implementation, communication, industrial relations, financial and legal aspects, probity and the bidding process. The records within this series reflect that function. Many of the records were accumulated by the Executive Officer of the project (Tim Cave) and a member of the project team (Mark Cotter). The physical arrangement of the series reflects their recordkeeping system. The series contains expressions of interest, public comment, bid submissions (including tender documentation), briefing notes prepared by project team members, and correspondence from municipalities keen to have one of the new prisons established within their locale. The P2 consignment of this series contains all of the contract documentation relating to the three private prisons.
