VPRS 1188 Index to Outward Registered Correspondence

This series provides indexes to the outwards correspondence of the Colonial Secretary (1853 - 1855) and the Chief Secretary (1855 - 1963).For Unit 1 of the series subjects are arranged in alphabetical order. Letters to private persons are recorded at the end of each alphabetical section according to the initial letter of the person's family name. Within each section entries are in chronological order.For the remainder of the series volumes are recommenced for each year and are arranged alphabetically by subject.Each alphabetical section has a sub-division for municipalities beginning with that letter and private persons whose family names begin with that letter as well as subjects which do not fit into the main categories. Gradually, subject headings become the same as those used for the indexing of inwards correspondence.
