AMF associated to wheat, Lolium rigidum and Ornithopus compressus

We studied root AMF communities in the succession from Lolium rigidum (Poaceae) and/or Ornithopus compressus (Fabaceae) to wheat (Poaceae), through deep sequencing of the LSU rDNA gene. We found a clear differentiation between Lolium and Ornithopus AMF communities, even when in the neighbouring of each other. A “symbiotic succession” effect was found in wheat as successional host, since wheat much retained what was selected by the previous host.
