Brain samples from 4 deceased patients who developed supratentorial intracerebral hemorrhage within the first 4 days prior to their death were included in this microarray study. The study cohort comprised 2 females and 2 males, with a median age of 79 years (range, 68–92 years). During autopsy and gross examination, experienced neuropathologists identified the perihematomal area suspected of edema using the latest available neuroradiological images. Samples from the perihematomal region (PH), contralateral gray matter (CG), and contralateral white matter (CW) were collected within the first 5 hours post-mortem, then rapidly frozen in liquid nitrogen and stored at -80°C until RNA isolation.
