Overtime hours worked in hospital and emergency services in Canada 2016-2019

Over the last few years, the need for overtime has been increasing across most hospital services in Canada. However, staff working in the emergency department were twice as likely to work overtime as staff in other hospital services. In 2019, overtime reached 6.25 percent in emergency services while it stood at 3.08 percent in other hospital services.
