The transcriptome of the ant Camponotus fellah was sequenced as part of a study of the influence of social isolation. The experimental setup compared isolated female worker ants to ants kept in groups of ten. The goal of the transcriptome sequencing was to identify genes that were differentially expressed in the two conditions. The reference transcriptome was assembled from the combined sequence data from one sample from each of the two conditions.
