Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) strains are implicated as a cause of diarrhea in humans and in several species of animals. South American camelids are the main economic resource for the Andean communities in Peru; however, the productivity is affected by the high neonatal mortality mainly caused by enteric diseases. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of EPEC strain ECB1 isolated from alpaca in Peru in order to investigate the genetic features of this pathogen that will provide information on the genetic diversity and virulence potential of this strain.
