The aim of the study is to understand the changes in transcriptional signature of aersolized M.tuberculosis (Mtb) expelled by patients in response to early phase of first line standard anti-TB treatment, compared to pretreatment. In addition the study also looks at the alterations in Mtb mRNA profile when the bacteria encounters effective vs ineffective or inadequate treatment. The study would help to identify potential biomarkers to gauge treatment efficacy and provide a means to understand correlates of Mtb transmission.
