Effects of three common antibiotics on canine intestinal microbiome

Antibiotics are commonly used in dogs and an increasing number of studies have shown the profound effect of antibiotics on the canine gastrointestinal microbiota. In our study, changes in the intestinal microbiome were analyzed using 16s rRNA sequencing in the faeces of healthy Beagles containing metronidazole, vancomycin, and amoxicillin, the most common antibiotics in clinical practice, to investigate the effect of antibiotic use on the intestinal microbiome and the related gene functions of Beagles.
