Tobacco EST project from ESTobacco. Nicotiana tabacum strain:K326, Burley 21, TN86

ESTobacco is a collaboration between Advanced Technologies (Cambridge) Ltd (BAT) and Tobacco Institute of Bergerac (Altadis). The aim of this project is to generate expressed sequence tags (EST) for genes expressed during the growth of the tobacco plant (Nicotiana tabacum). Specific normalised cDNA libraries will be produced for a variety of tissues at specific developmental time points for a commercial variety of tobacco, K326. These include seedlings; roots before and after topping; leaf lamina before and after topping; leaf midrib; stem; flower and seed. In addition certain of these libraries will also be produced for a number of other tobacco varieties. In this way it is hoped that the major part of the complete tobacco transcriptome will be represented.
