Transcription profiling of fat and normal adipocytes from insulin receptor knockout mice sorted into small and large cells

Mice with fat-specific disruption of the insulin receptor gene (FIRKO mice) have low fat mass, and are protected against obesity and obesity-related glucose intolerance. FIRKO mice also exhibit polarization of adipocytes into populations of large and small cells.
