Novel Insights into the Mechanisms of Periodate-based Pretreatment on Enhancing Short-chain Fatty Acids (SCFAs) from Waste Activated Sludge

Resource recovery in form of short-chain fatty acids from waste activated sludge is usually limited with the quantity and quality of SCFAs. To mitigate these restrictions, this study provided a novel method by using periodate pretreatment. This study was expected to broaden an unknown application of PI and provided an alternative strategy for resource recovery in some specific circumstance.
