Calothrix NIES-4101 (NIES-4101) is a heterocyst-forming filamentous cyanobacterium. The recently reported NIES-4101 genome sequence contained 13 fragments of nifH, nifD, nifK, and nifB each separated by an insertion sequence. However, NIES-4101 grew well on nitrogen-deprived medium and showed high nitrogenase (acetylene reduction) activity. To address this issue, we performed resequencing analysis of the genome prepared from NIES-4101 grown on nitrogen-deficient medium.
