Fill from three hearth features in Area A (Yellowstone Bank Cache Site) at site 24YE355
in southern Montana were examined for macrofloral remains. These three features were
located on the edge of the Yellowstone River and in danger of eroding into the river. Charcoal
from two of the hearths yielded radiocarbon dates of 1600 ± 70 BP and 1670 ± 50 BP, reflecting
a contemporaneous Late Prehistoric occupation. Macrofloral analysis is used to provide
information concerning plant resources utilized by the site occupants.
