TYMEFLIES is a 471-metagenome 20-year time series from Lake Mendota (WI, USA). These metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) were created from the TYMEFLIES dataset by binning contigs from single-sample assemblies aided by differential coverage information obtained by cross-mapping metagenomic reads from different samples. Cross-mapping was performed in approximately 50-sample groups, with all samples from the same year included in each group (i.e. consecutive low-sample years were combined but no years were split). These are the 2,855 representative genomes obtained after de-replicating MAGs from all single-sample assemblies to 96% ANI.TYMEFLIES: Twenty Years of Metagenomes Exploring Freshwater Lake Interannual Eco/evo Shifts.Robinning MAGs: These are the MAGs created by "Robin's Binning" (Rohwer et al.), as there are other sets of MAGs available for this dataset.Our goal was to study microbial ecology and evolution in a complex natural system. These MAGs provide high quality reference genomes for the TYMEFLIES dataset, as well as for other limnological research. Lake Mendota is a eutrophic, temperate, freshwater lake.
