VPRS 14451 Register of Applications, Seed and Fodder, Seed Advances Act 1903

This series registers applications for advances for seed and fodder under the 1903 Seed Advances Act and, in the 'A' section, applications for Flood Relief 1907.Details recorded are the number, the name and address of the applicant, the amount applied for, the decision of the local board for the hearing of applications and the amount recommended for seed and/or fodder. Further details given are the nature and date of the security offered (lien or mortgage), details of the orders issued and the date, the name of the claimant (the supplier of the seed and/or fodder) and details of repayment of the advance.The Seed Advances Act 1903 provided for the advance of seed and fodder to occupiers of Crown land from the Department of Crown Lands and Survey. The Act stipulated that the amount of seed advanced was to be worth no less than 50 pounds (section12.1), and the interest to be charged was to be no more than 3 pounds 10 shillings p.a.(section 12.1) payable twice yearly(section 12.2). Loan repayments were to be made to the Board by the debtor and then forwarded to the Victorian Loans Redemption Fund (Section 9). The amount of money needed to buy the seed was provided by Treasury.This series was previously registered as Unit 10 of VPRS 753 / P Records of the Closer Settlement Agencies.
