The Nature of Far Infrared Selected Type 2 QSOs

We propose Xray spectroscopy of type 2 QSO candidates chosen based on veryluminous optical emission lines and Seyfert 2 type classification in the IRAS 1Jy sample of ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs). Our goals are (1) tomeasure intrinsic luminosity to test whether the main power source inSeyferttype ULIRGs is an AGN if the AGN is Compton thin, (2) to constrain thegeometry of obscuring matter from FeK lines and to compare them with lessluminous AGNs. These data will be a basis to take a census of type 2 QSOs inongoing/future IR/Xray survey and to perform hard Xray follow up to fullyunderstand the longsought class of AGNs. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
