This bibliometric study provides a comprehensive analysis of the research landscape surrounding the application of Artificial Intelligence in business sustainability from 2004 to 2023 and found 538 documents. The findings reveal a significant upward trend in research activity and publications, particularly from 2019 onwards, highlighting the growing recognition of AI's potential to revolutionize sustainable business practices. The study also identifies key contributing authors, institutions, and countries, as well as the most prominent research sources and subject fields. Furthermore, the thematic map analysis uncovers important themes for future research discussions, such as sustainable development and the integration of sustainability considerations into core business models. By offering valuable insights into current trends, future prospects, and collaboration networks, this study contributes to the growing body of knowledge in this field and serves as a foundation for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to develop innovative strategies and frameworks for effectively leveraging AI in the pursuit of business sustainability. The results of the thematic map analysis contain interesting themes for future research discussions. Firstly, Sustainable development, encompasses a wide range of topics related to the long-term viability and resilience of businesses, communities, and the environment. Secondly, Business Sustainability focuses specifically on how companies can integrate sustainability considerations into their core business models and practices. Future research can focus on the use of AI for more specific sustainable businesses such as decision making, business development, and supply chain management. The findings from this research can contribute to the growing body of knowledge in this field, enabling researchers to build upon existing theories and develop new frameworks for the effective integration of AI in business sustainability practices.
