This dataset contains French last names extracted from death records provided by INSEE (French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies) covering the period from 1970 to September 2024. The dataset includes two main features: last names and the number of occurrences of each last name in the records. The dataset has been filtered and cleaned to include only names longer than 1 character, not composed of repeated single characters, and with at least 2 occurrences. The dataset can be used for historical analysis, demographic studies, gender classification, cultural evolution studies, and genealogical research.
