NRS-21464 | Register of volunteer staff [Board of Fire Commissioners]

This volume is a register of volunteer fire staff attached to country and Sydney suburban brigades. It lists staff appointed between approximately 1908 and 1976, and its annotations and attachment suggest it was maintained between the years 1948 and 1980.The register is arranged alphabetically by name of brigade. For each brigade, the authorised strength; and number of men available is recorded.For each officer listed, the register records: date of appointment, name, married or single, date of birth, date became a motor driver (if applicable) and occupation. There is a remarks column which was used to record the dates of various career events such as: appointment to the Reserve Corps (RC), appointments to positions (e.g. Captain, Engine Keeper), resignation, and appointment as an honorary member.The volume is predominantly typescript but there are handwritten annotations, additions and corrections.In the front of the volume is attached a List of Honorary Members; appointed as such between 1941 and 1980. The list is roughly chronological and, for each member, records: brigade, name, date of birth, date appointed to the brigade, date appointed an honorary member, and remarks (e.g. Deceased).
