Geospatial Coordinates of Hydrological Bodies of the Waki River Basin and Arthur Hill Lake, Maharashtra, India (Google Satellite - Derived)

This dataset contains geospatial coordinates of hydrological bodies present in the basins of Waki River and Arthur Hill Lake, located in Maharashtra India. All the hydrological bodies including seasonal river, dry streams or paleo-channels, check dams, mud barrier, lakes formed form regulatory dams, and Pravare river were collected in the dataset. The dataset covers six villages, namely, Jahagirdarwadi, Bari, Pendshet, Chichondi, Murshet, and Panjare.

The dataset generated from manual surveying of hydrological features in the region using Satellite Imagery of Google Map. From each hydrological features, the value of Latitude and Longitude were obtained and saved in excel sheet. For river, path values obtained; for lakes, boundary values obtained; and for check dams, mud barriers, wells & ponds, point values obtained. The dataset contain a set of excel sheets. This includes excel sheets for each Lakes in the region especially Waki Lake, Arthur Hill Lake and Ghatghar Lake, all dry and seasonal section of Waki River, and Pravare River, several dry streams which appeared in HydroSHEDS data, and paleo-channels identified from existence of series of check dams. The data set also contain excel sheet for check dams, mud barriers, and wells & ponds. Along data, geopandas based Python script to generate a topographic map of the region along with above hydrological bodies. Initial code is generated using ChatGPT, then manually modified as per requirements of the study.

The dataset does not include raw satellite imagery and is derived solely from visual interpretation and coordinate collection of publicly available satellite views. Users are advised to consider scale and temporal limitation of the source imagery when applying the data for quantitative analysis.
