资源简介:
Purpose of the Data Set To systematically document and codify the use of gold throughout the Breslau Psalter (MS 36–1950), enabling comparisons between the hands of individual artists, scenes, and quires, as well as the analysis of techniques (burnishing, punching, rims, haloes) in their stylistic and technological context. Nature of the Data Set It is a detailed table (over 290 records) describing each miniature/page, including fields such as: no., fol., quire, section – identification and location within the codex; type of representation – full-page miniature, narrative initial, marginalia; painter/hand – attributions (e.g., Master of Giovanni da Gaibana, his collaborators); gold features – gold background, letters, rims, punched ornaments, haloes (including “with pearls”), degree of gloss/matte finish, condition; description/notes on gold – qualitative observations (e.g., “high gloss,” “craquelure,” “punched stars”); content – iconography of the scene. Applications The dataset serves as a basis for: Mapping the distribution of gilding motifs within the manuscript and across quires; Comparing stylistic features between different hands and narrative types; Inferring the transfer of techniques (e.g., Byzantine influences); Preparing quantitative analyses, charts, and planning in-situ research.
