In this study, after de nove assembled and annotated from mixed tissues(testis and ovaries ), the Illumina HiSeqTM 4000 platform was applied to sequence the transcriptome of discus fish. This is the first report on characterizing the discus fish transcriptome, which provides a method for the discovery of novel genes and reveals the function and the network regulation mechanism of sex-related genes and other valuable genomic resource.
