This dataset was generated by Southwest Jiaotong University in September 2021. A novel, simple modulation format identification (MFI) scheme based on signal envelope flatness is proposed, and its feasibility was verified for the first time. The proposed MFI scheme achieves 100% correct recognition of four modulation formats over a wide optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) range with as few as 4000 symbols. Proof-of-concept experiments were conducted in 28 GBaud PDM-QPSK, -8QAM and -16QAM systems over both back-to-back and long-haul optical fiber transmission links, further validating the effectiveness of the proposed MFI scheme. Raw data was collected based on a laboratory optical fiber transmission platform. Finally, the data was processed and plotted using MATLAB. This dataset supports the paper titled "Blind and low-complexity modulation format identification based on signal envelope flatness for autonomous digital coherent receivers" under Project 3.
