Bacterioplankton play a crucial role in maintaining lake ecosystem functions and services. Understanding the diversity and distribution patterns of bacterioplankton, especially potential pathogenic bacterial communities, is essential for protecting human health. Here, using 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing, we explored the diversity and geographic patterns of bacterioplankton communities, along with potential pathogens in eight volcanic lakes in the Arxan UNESCO Global Geopark, which located in the Greater Khingan Mountains of China.
