Microbial communities from mud breccia recently emitted from a subseafloor mud volcano

The microbial community composition of recently emitted mud breccia flow deposits from Venere, a subseafloor mud volcano in the Mediterranean, was investigated to survey the deep biosphere and understand how it can change along a transition to a benthic marine environment, with particular focus given to potential impacts on methane cycling.
