World Press Freedom Index

This dataset provides Qatar’s annual rank and score in Reporters Without Borders (RSF)’s World Press Freedom Index. The Index compares the level of press freedom enjoyed by journalists and media in 180 countries and territories. Rankings are based on a score from 0 to 100 (100 = highest level of press freedom; 0 = lowest), calculated from a quantitative tally of abuses against journalists and media, and a qualitative assessment based on RSF’s questionnaire answered by press freedom specialists. From 2022 onwards, RSF applies a revised methodology using five contextual indicators: political, economic, legal framework (legislative), sociocultural, and safety.
